Born in Japan
Akihiro Okumura is a Japanese visual artist with the use of photography. Looking at uncertainty, ambiguity, analogy and parallel of photographic images that occur between subjects and images captured in photographs. His work explores the interpretation of photography in different ways. From 2008 to 2013, he worked as a part-time lecturer at two Japanese universities in Japan: Department of Oil Painting at Tokyo University of the Arts and Division of Liberal Arts at Kogakuin University. After completion of these careers, he moved to Australia and then New Zealand to continue his photographic practice. He has been intrigued by photography.
